WHY CHOOSE RIVER SONG FOR RIDING LESSONS?

Rachel began taking lessons at River Song in June 2007, as an intermediate hunter/jumper rider who had a little jumping experience over very small jumps. My evaluation of her indicated some rather large gaps in her flatwork education, knowledge of the aids, and in her understanding of how horses respond to the aids and why. In early September, Rachel proudly showed me her Lesson Journal, which was quite a revelation to me, and a delightful one. How WONDERFUL to know that your teaching has such a strong impact on a student! I was truly surprised by how much she retained from her lessons and how increasingly motivated she continues to become after each and every lesson. I was fascinated to learn how very important that excelling at the sport of riding is to her, the things she finds most interesting about her lessons, and the specific goals she sets for herself to learn during each lesson, and the new goals she sets for herself after each lesson for the next one. Her Journal was truly a revelation, and it taught me much. I am proud to have Rachel as a student, and grateful that she has helped ME to become a better trainer.
