SATURDAY MORNING RIDING CAMP
River Song Farm and Stables offers a Saturday morning Children’s Riding Camp on Saturday mornings from September 2007 through May 2008, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The program is tailored for children aged 8 to 12, and is an abbreviated version of the Summer Riding Program. Students will learn to groom and tack up their own horses, receive English and Western riding lessons and receive additional, extensive instruction in a wide range of subjects relating to horses and horsemanship, including horse care and stable management.
Drop off your child, run your errands without interruption, then pick up your child three hours later, all your weekend work completed and ready to enjoy the weekend with your family! Also a wonderful opportunity for children of visiting guests, it entertains and gives them something fun and educational to do while you enjoy some "adult time" with your guests! There is a maximum class size each Saturday to ensure the children receive the most personalized attention and instruction possible. Camp space must be reserved in advance for the dates you wish your child to to attend; you may call a day or two before but since space is limited there may not be room at the last minute. This is a very popular program, and you will want to reserve your child's spots as far ahead as possible!
Tuition for the Saturday morning program is $120 for three hours, a 35% discount on the usual hourly lesson rate. Children must be picked up promptly at 12:30 pm when camp ends, as private lessons begin immediately at that time and we cannot properly supervise your child and teach another at the same time. We are sure you understand!
River Song also offers a Saturday Afternoon Jumping Program, in which students who are learning to jump have the opportunity to take a group class and learn from watching each other while they work on their jumping individually. This class is open to all ages, as long as they are able to jump at least 1'6". In this program, jumping in an arena with other riders is also taught, with a heavy emphasis on safety and rules of the road, as well as preparation for participating in horse show equitation classes. Class size for this program is limited to three (unless you bring your own horse), and lasts for two hours. The tuition is $100 for each camp, the usual hourly group lesson rate.
