River Song Farm and Stables is located on 143 acres, with another 800 acres along the Raccoon River available for trail riding. Whether you want a one-hour or a four-hour trail ride lesson, we can give you what you want! Our trail horses are very quiet, gentle and manageable, so you will have a safe and enjoyable ride. Call us to schedule a trail ride “lesson” and receive private, individualized instruction as you learn to walk, trot, canter, and maybe even gallop through River Song’s rolling hills and meadows along the winding Raccoon River.

There is a group maximum of four for trail rides, which means you and your riding companions will have lots of personal attention and assistance from our friendly, helpful trail guides. River Song guides are seasoned horsemen and horsewomen who have spent years riding, competing, teaching, training horses and guiding trail rides, and they will make sure you have the most fun trail ride you’ve ever had!

For trail riding, children must be at least four and a half feet tall. Anyone less than 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult, and EVERYONE under the age of 18 MUST WEAR A HELMET. Riders may wear their own bicycle helmets or borrow one of our riding helmets.
We strongly suggest that adults wear helmets too. Just borrow one of ours - and be safe! Your children (and grandchildren) will thank you for it.
